We Shall Overcome Event in Harrow!

At a time when communities are feeling the pressure of cuts from central and local government it is vital that we come together and show our dissastisafaction with the current administration.  This is what happened on the weekend of the 2nd-4th October as performers, artists, musicians and poets from all over the country played at events, under the banner 'We Shall Overcome', showing their solidarity against austerity politics.

In Harrow we were lucky to have our own 'We Shall Overcome' event at Trinity Bar, showcasing a number of excellent musicians.  The event kicked off with Mark Phillips on acoustic guitar, we then heard from Mark Pearson and Matt Balmer, their first time performing together and finally the headline act, Pete Gow with a special guest appearance by Hannah Piranaha on the electric violin.

All donations from the event went to Harrow Foodbank, a service which opened in June 2013 and has fed 5000 people in two years.  It is a shocking that in one of the richest nations people are living in poverty and having to depend on emergency food provision to survive.  The Green Party were happy to support this event and would like to offer their thanks to Sean Hannam for organising it.
