Reasons to #VoteGreen this May

Harrow Green local election candidates are committed to standing up for our local communities, working hard on their behalf and listening to their needs.  Having even just one Green Party councillor on a council can make the difference and help break the old, two party dominated system that we currently have in Harrow.

Green councillors in Harrow will:

  • Protect public services
  • Invest in public transport, cycling and walking
  • Support home insulation and eco-heating systems
  • Improve food, garden waste and recycling schemes
  • Create a joined up parks and green spaces strategy
  • Plant more trees and encourage biodiversity
  • Deal with the climate emergency

Harrow Greens work year round to support Harrow residents, standing up for their concerns and acting on local issues.  In the last two years Harrow Greens have:

  1. Campaigned against the 265 The Ridgeway development in West Harrow
  2. Called for Harrow Council to do more about fly-tipping in Kenton
  3. Called for investment and planning in council housing at the Pinner Grove Estate
  4. Called for the Council to act on trees being cut down by the Castle pub on Harrow on the Hill
  5. Campaigned against the Pinner Road development in West Harrow
  6. Petitioned the Council to ban the use of petrol leaf blowers
  7. Called on Harrow School to not block a footpath used by school students and parents on Harrow on the Hill
  8. Campaigned to save mature trees running along Harrow View on the Kodak site in Headstone
  9. Spoken out about the lack of Council investment and strategic planning in Harrow's parks and green spaces
  10. Challenged the Council on the huge council tax increases in Harrow
  11. Called on the Council to do more about the Climate Emergency
  12. Stood up for the Streetspace scheme and the wider need to support pedestrians, cyclists and traffic calming measures in Harrow

In 2021, the Green Party celebrated the best local elections results in its history with more green councillors on more councils across the country than ever before.  We hope to continue this success in Harrow and wider London this May 2022, please #VoteGreen!

2022 Ward and Councillor Changes in Harrow

Due to the The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) statutory review of Harrow Council’s ward boundaries, Harrow has increased its number of wards from 21 to 22.  The number of councillors to be elected has been reduced from 63 to 55. Some wards will have two councillors and others will have three councillors to be elected (as identified in brackets above).
