I am pleased to be standing as the Green Party candidate in Hatch End, giving voters the opportunity to support social justice and environmental issues. I have been a resident in Harrow for over 40 years and in that time have seen many changes, in particular around housing, with new privately owned blocks of flats appearing in multiple locations. I have also seen an increase in job inequalities, food banks being opened and cuts to public services, including hospitals, schools and libraries, which many people rely on, and which have led to a greater degree of social inequality in our society.
Having recently retired, I wish to devote my time and energy to addressing concerns around social justice and environmental issues at a local level, which impact many residents in Harrow. Some key areas of concern are around the threat to many of our vital public services, such as we saw with the closure of Hatch End library. I will stand up for our Council services and help ensure they remain open and maintained including, Harrow Arts Centre and Hatch End Swimming pool, which are widely used by many people in the local community and residents in Harrow. Cuts to public services lead to a greater degree of social injustice and class inequality, having the greatest negative impact on low-income families, which I feel is an important area to campaign for.
I believe the Green Party is the only party that can bring about genuine positive change to this ward and wider Harrow.
